Cut the Ropes: Why You Feel Stuck & How to Finally Move Forward

Cut the Ropes: Why You Feel Stuck & How to Finally Move Forward

You ever feel like you’re trying to grow… but somehow you’re still in the same place?

Like you’re doing something—thinking, planning, maybe even trying—but nothing is really changing?

That’s your sign.

It’s time to pause, take a step back, and look at the bigger picture.

Because here’s the truth:

You can’t move forward if you’re still tied to what’s holding you back.

At some point, you’ve got to grab the scissors and start cutting.

And those ropes? They look different for everyone.

Sometimes it’s your environment.
Sometimes it’s other people.
And sometimes… it’s you.

Most of the time? It’s a little bit of both.

So ask yourself:

  • Is my mindset helping me or hurting me?
  • Am I speaking life into myself or tearing myself down?
  • Are the people around me uplifting me or draining me?
  • Am I staying stuck because I’m scared to step outside my comfort zone?

Because fear will keep you in the same place forever if you let it.

Quick pro tip:
Cut the toxic habits, not your hair… unless you’re going to a professional 😌

Story Time

I know what it feels like to be stuck.

From 17 to almost 21, I was in a toxic relationship that slowly stripped me of who I was. I lost myself completely.

And the craziest part?

I knew early on it wasn’t right.

That relationship should’ve ended within the first two months… but it lasted four years.

Why?

Because I was comfortable.
Because I was scared.

At 19, I had my first child.

And even then, I stayed.

I had so many chances to leave—before pregnancy, during pregnancy, after—but I didn’t take them.

Fear will have you settling for less than you deserve just to avoid the unknown.

But right before my 21st birthday, something in me shifted.

I finally had enough.

And just like that—I was done.

The next day?

Reality hit hard.

I woke up feeling heavy. Scared. Overwhelmed.

Not only had I just unexpectedly ended a long-term relationship… I also lost over half my income that same day.

Talk about timing, right?

But guess what?

I made it.

I made it through what felt like the worst time in my life—and I came out stronger.

That moment taught me something I’ll never forget:

If there’s will, there’s a way.

In the middle of that storm, I found myself.

I went from being insecure, indecisive, and constantly seeking approval…
to becoming independent, confident, and self-sufficient.

Because I had no other choice.

For years, I let people drain me mentally, emotionally, and physically.

I remember looking in the mirror and wondering why I wasn’t enough.

But the truth?

I’ve always been enough.

More than enough.

That’s when everything changed.

I started practicing positive self-talk.

And let me say this loud and clear:

There is NOTHING wrong with hyping yourself up.

If you catch your reflection and say,

“Damn… I’m that girl” — GOOD. You should.

You are supposed to be your biggest supporter.

And the moment I became mine?

My confidence skyrocketed. My mindset shifted. My life changed.

Now, I live a life that actually fulfills me.

Because I’m not tied to anything that holds me back.

If I had to describe my growth?

I became water.

I used to be like soda—shake me up and I’d explode.

Now?

You can shake me, test me, pressure me… and I stay calm.

Unbothered. Grounded. Solid.

Because I know who I am.
I know what I bring to the table.
And I know I’m not for everyone—and that’s okay.

Becoming this version of me took work.

Real work.

But it started with one thing:

Changing my mindset.

I started doing things that scared me.

Because fear was the only thing truly standing in my way.

And once I stopped letting fear control me?

I became unstoppable.

And you can too.

So here’s your reminder:

If it’s draining you… cut it off.
If it’s negative… remove it.
If it’s holding you back… let it go.

Subtract what doesn’t serve you.
Add what helps you grow.

And watch your life change.

You’re not stuck.

You’re just still holding on to something you need to release.

OH, and leave your hometown - at least once. You never know what's out there until you go see for yourself.
